Life Insurance Built for the Road.
Owner-operator, OTR, company driver, CDL holder — coverage from independent broker who understands DOT medicals, BMI underwriting, and the way carriers actually price the trucking lifestyle.
Trucking is underwritten differently. Here's what matters.
Higher risk classification
Most carriers flag trucking as a higher-risk occupation. Some price you 30%+ over a comparable non-driver. Other carriers don't penalize it at all — that's where independent brokerage matters.
BMI + DOT medical underwriting
DOT medicals don't transfer cleanly into life-insurance underwriting. A BMI that passed your DOT exam can still trigger rate-ups. We'll prep you so you apply with the carrier who underwrites your numbers fairly.
OTR vs. local rate differences
Time over the road affects both health profile and policy pricing. Long-haul + sleep apnea concerns drive specific carrier choices; local route drivers have a wider field.
Trucker coverage at a glance.
| Term Life | No-Exam | |
|---|---|---|
| Approval timeline | 2–4 weeks (better rates) | 24–72 hours (fast) |
| Coverage range | Up to $5M+ | Typically $25K–$500K |
| Medical exam | Yes — in-home or paramed | No exam, simplified questions |
| Best for | Younger, healthier drivers locking in long-term rate | Drivers who want speed or who'd rather skip the exam |
Owner-operator business loans, equipment debt, and family protection often combine to push the right coverage into the $500K–$1.5M range. We'll right-size, not over-sell.

Three brokers told me my BMI was a problem. Dalis sent me to a carrier that didn't blink — locked in $500K of 20-year term.
Had a CPAP and assumed I'd be denied. Wrong. The right carrier and a clean compliance record got me approved at preferred rates.
Two-truck operation. We covered both drivers and the business note in one conversation. No insurance double-talk.
Truckers — top questions answered.
Will I be penalized for being a truck driver?
Some carriers will, some won't. Independent brokerage exists for exactly this reason — we route you to carriers who underwrite trucking fairly instead of forcing you into the one we have to sell.
I have sleep apnea / a CPAP. Am I uninsurable?
Not even close. Carriers care about compliance — using your CPAP, recent sleep study, and stable health markers. Many drivers with treated sleep apnea qualify at preferred rates.
What about my BMI?
BMI tables vary widely between carriers. A BMI that's 'flat-rate' at one carrier might be 'preferred' at another. We'll know which to apply to first.
Do I need a medical exam?
No-exam coverage is available up to certain amounts. For higher coverage, a quick in-home paramed visit often saves you significant premium dollars.
How much coverage does an owner-operator typically need?
Common range: $500K–$1.5M. Cover the truck note, equipment debt, business operating capital, and 5–10 years of income for the family. We right-size in the discovery call.
Will my MVR (driving record) affect my application?
Recent DUIs, suspensions, and at-fault major accidents can affect underwriting. Most clean MVRs do not. We'll flag any red flags before applying so we don't waste your time.
