No-Exam

No-Exam Life Insurance — Coverage in 24–72 Hours.

Skip the medical exam. Apply by phone or online, get approved fast, and walk away covered. Great for truckers, busy parents, and anyone who needs protection now.

What it is

In plain English.

No-exam (sometimes called 'simplified issue') life insurance skips the in-home paramed visit. Underwriting is based on application questions, prescription history, MIB, and motor vehicle records — pulled electronically.

Approval is fast — often same-day to 72 hours. The trade-off: coverage is typically capped lower than fully-underwritten term, and rates may be slightly higher for healthy applicants who could've qualified for preferred-plus pricing with an exam.

How it works

The short version.

  1. 01

    Apply in 15 minutes

Online or by phone. You answer health and lifestyle questions; the carrier pulls Rx, MIB, and MVR records electronically.

  2. 02

    Underwrite electronically

No paramed visit. Carrier algorithms evaluate your records and application within hours.

  3. 03

    Get a decision fast

Same-day to 72 hours typical. You sign electronically and coverage starts immediately on most carriers.

  4. 04

    Coverage delivered

Policy is emailed; physical copy follows in the mail. Premium typically pulled monthly via ACH.

Who it's best for

Good fit if…

  • OTR truckers who can't fit a paramed exam into their schedule
  • Busy parents who want coverage in days, not weeks
  • Anyone with mild health concerns who'd rather skip an exam
  • Coverage gaps — bridge protection while a fully-underwritten policy is in process
  • Applicants needing $25K–$500K of fast coverage
Cost factors

What drives premium.

  • Age and health questions. Application questions drive most of the rate. Honesty matters — discrepancies surface in carrier records and can void coverage later.
  • Coverage amount. Higher amounts may shift you out of no-exam tiers entirely. We'll know which carriers can write your number without an exam.
  • Carrier algorithms. No-exam underwriting varies wildly by carrier. The same applicant might be 'standard' at one carrier and 'preferred' at another.
  • Tobacco / vape. Same as fully-underwritten — significantly higher rates for tobacco use.

Common questions

No-Exam — top questions answered.

Can I get more than $500K with no-exam?

Some carriers go higher (up to $1M for select healthy applicants), but the cap typically tightens with age. Above the cap, fully-underwritten policies usually offer better pricing anyway.

Is no-exam more expensive than regular term?

Sometimes slightly, sometimes not. Healthy applicants who would've qualified for preferred-plus on full underwriting may pay 5–15% more on no-exam. For applicants who'd land at standard or table-rated on full underwriting, no-exam can actually be cheaper.

Will they still check my health records?

Yes — carriers pull prescription history (Rx databases), MIB (medical info bureau records of past applications), and motor vehicle records. They just skip the paramed visit.

What if I'm declined for no-exam?

We pivot to fully-underwritten term where exam-derived data (clean labs, normal blood pressure) often produces a much better outcome than the algorithmic decline.

Can I get no-exam coverage as an owner-operator?

Yes — no-exam is one of the most popular products for owner-operators. Several carriers explicitly underwrite trucking-friendly no-exam policies up to $500K.

Does no-exam mean less rigorous underwriting?

Different, not less rigorous. The carrier evaluates the same data (Rx, MIB, MVR) — they just skip the labs and physical. Misrepresentations on the application have the same consequences as on a fully-underwritten policy.
